Bedfordshire bird news March 2024

A drake American Wigeon was at Woburn Park 13th and a drake Ring-necked Duck was at Marston Vale Millennium CP on Coronation Pit 11th-16th. Nine Dark-bellied Brent Geese flew over Broom GP 11th.

 

A Red-breasted Merganser was at Harrold & Odell CP and at Harrold 7th-24th. Three Little Gulls were at Priory CP and two were at Stewartby Lake 31st.

 

Up to two Ring Ouzels were at Blows Downs from 14th and one was at Pegsdon Hills 21st-23rd. A Common Redstart was at Blows Downs from 28th.

 

Waxwings were seen at Biggleswade, Kempston, Bedford, Lidlington Clay Pit, Wootton, Sandy and RSPB The Lodge.

 

The first summer visitors arrived including Little Ringed Plover, Willow Warbler, Yellow Wagtail and Wheatear.
