Bedfordshire bird news April 2022
A Richard’s Pipit was at Brogborough on the north side of landfill 17th-18th. A Black Redstart was at Blows Down 2nd and another was at the Luton Hoo estate from 19th. Single Ring Ouzels were at Caddington 7th and Wilstead 12th, two were at Warden Hill, up to six Deacon Hills and up to seven at Pegsdon Hills.
A drake Ring-necked Duck was at Radwell GPs main pit 13th-19th with two being reported there on the first day. A Garganey was at Priory CP 2nd-4th and four Little Gull 11th and eight were there 23rd. Nearby at Meadow Lane GPs there was a White-fronted Goose from 4th & Pink-footed Goose 6th. A Garganey was at Battlesden Lake 2nd and a Scaup was at Biggleswade on the Derek White Egg Pits 5th-30th.
Highlights at Broom GPs included a Water Pipit 3rd, Kittiwake 4th-5th, two Wood Sandpipers 27th and a Black Tern 29th. There were twenty-nine Arctic Terns at Stewartby Lake 19th and twenty-five Little Gulls there 23rd. A Sandwich Tern was at Grovebury SP 6th and three Arctic Terns were there 22nd.
An Osprey was at Battlesden Lake 6th and one flew over Kempston 9th.
