Hertfordshire bird news August 2025

The Black-crowned Night Heron was again at RSPB Rye Meads 4th.

 

A Wryneck was trapped and ringed at Benington 30th. A Black Redstart was at South Mimms at Redwell Wood Farm 1st and at another was at Baldock at the Warren Lane Flying Club Airfield from 27th.

 

A Black-necked Grebe was at Startop's End Reservoir 1st-6th and a European Shag was there 29th. Two European Shags were at Wilstone Reservoir from 30th.

 

Single Spotted Redshanks were at Wilstone Reservoir 12th-14th, King's Meads 21st-25th and Amwell NR on Great Hardmead Lake 18th & 26th. A Wood Sandpiper was at Coursers Road GPs 16th and a Red Knot was at Wilstone Reservoir from 29th.
