Hertfordshire bird news February 2024

A Kumlien’s Gull was at Amwell NR 9th and up to two Smew were at there throughout February.  A Scaup was at Hilfield Park Reservoir until 19th and a Common Scoter was there 11th-12th. Another Scaup was at Stockers Lake 7th and Marsworth Reservoir 20th and a Pink-footed Goose was at Wilstone Reservoir until 4th.

 

There were a several Waxwing sightings with birds at many sites including: Berkhamsted, Braughing, Welwyn Garden City, Stockers Lake, Cassiobury Park, Tring Park, Royston, Watford, St Albans, Garston, Stockers Lake, Stanborough and Letchworth. The Black Redstart remained at St Albans cathedral.
