Hertfordshire bird news January 2025
A Yellow-browed Warbler remained at Verulamium Park in St Albans and a Black Redstart was at St Albans Cathedral.
Ferruginous Ducks continued to be seen in the West Hide area at Pynesfield South & North Lakes until 22nd and in the Rickmansworth area at Batchworth Lake or Stockers Lake until 10th.
Up to three Black-necked Grebes were at Troy Mill Lake and another was on Abbotts Lake at Stanstead Innings 17th-18th. A Smew remained on Great Hardmead Lake at Amwell NR until 25th.
A Red-throated Diver flew south over Sawbridgeworth 15th. Five White-fronted Geese was at Wilstone Reservoir 11th-12th.
